Lee Jae Myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, emphasized on January 23, "Over the past two years, too much has been destroyed and lost due to the misrule of the Yoon Suk Yeol administration and its anachronistic praetorian military coup. It is the only country to have achieved both liberation from colonial rule and simultaneous industrialization and democratization, becoming an advanced nation."
He continued, "The Yoon Suk Yeol administration, which remained indifferent even as people's livelihoods and the economy collapsed and peace and democracy were destroyed, not only committed insurrection but also drove the nation into an endless swamp of chaos. Yet the people were truly great. They stood up to lawless violence with their bare hands and blocked the regression of history with colorful cheering sticks and spirited group chants."
He went on to say, "We are now carrying out a revolution of light, removing a ruler who defied the people's sovereignty through a peaceful process unprecedented in world history, without shedding a single drop of blood. By gathering small lights to overcome the violent darkness, Korea has proven the power and value of democracy and become a model for democratic nations around the world."
He also stressed the need for: ▲ a transition to an era of private sector-led, government-supported growth ▲ advancement of the capital market ▲ fostering new growth engines such as AI, biotechnology, and new drug development ▲ and strengthening the Korea-U.S. alliance under a potential Trump administration.
Lee further stated, "If the regime's praetorian military coup was the first insurrection, then the organized uprising of extremist forces is the second insurrection. Our strong people, by joining hands and harnessing the power of light, will put an end to barbaric insurrections and disturbances, and open a new path of hope in accordance with the supreme law of the democratic republic as set forth in our Constitution."
He added, "The higher you climb the mountain, the stronger the wind becomes. The current turmoil is a rite of passage toward a brighter world. Let us gather our strength and hope to overcome this final hurdle together."

Meanwhile, regarding his new discourse of 'Recovery and Growth, Back to Great Korea,' Lee said, "Ideology and political camps do not put food on the table. Whether the cat is black or white, isn't it a good cat as long as it catches mice well? Realistic pragmatism, free from ideology and factionalism, is the driving force for overcoming crises and achieving growth and development."
