343,000 Vehicles, Including Porter and Bongo Electric Models, Recalled
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on January 23 that a total of 343,250 vehicles across 11 models, either manufactured by Hyundai Motor and Kia or imported and sold by Mercedes-Benz Korea and Tesla Korea, have been found to have manufacturing defects and will be subject to voluntary corrective action (recall).
Starting February 3, 141,125 units of two models, including the Hyundai Porter II Electric, will be recalled due to a design error in the 12V battery sensor. Additionally, 19,830 units of the Nexo will be recalled starting today because of insufficient durability in the emergency flasher switch.
Beginning January 24, 89,598 units of two models, including the Kia Sorento Hybrid, will be recalled due to a software error in the body domain controller, which integrates control of the headlights and tire pressure monitoring system, among other functions. Furthermore, 86,204 units of two models, including the Kia Bongo III EV, will be recalled starting January 31 due to a design error in the 12V battery sensor.
Since January 16, 4,068 units of two models, including the Mercedes-Benz S580 4MATIC, have been subject to corrective action due to an engine control unit software error. Since January 14, 2,425 units of two models, including the Tesla Model Y, have been recalled after a software error in the monitoring system was found to prevent the tire pressure warning device from functioning properly.
