With the Lunar New Year holiday approaching, there is a high risk that hasty work at construction sites to meet deadlines can lead to accidents due to small mistakes. In response, the Labor Office carried out inspections on the three major types of accidents and eight major risk factors that can be prevented by following basic safety rules.
This inspection focused on: ▲Checking roofs, edges, and openings where safety accidents frequently occur at construction sites ▲Implementing preventive measures for cold-related illnesses (such as hypothermia and frostbite) that can occur during outdoor work in winter ▲Ensuring that appropriate respiratory protective equipment is provided and worn by workers when fine dust warnings are issued.
The Gwangju Employment and Labor Office will designate emergency response personnel during the Lunar New Year holiday period from the 27th to the 30th, and will operate a hazard reporting office and an accident monitoring response center to respond quickly in case of industrial accidents or other emergencies.
Lee Seongryong, head of the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office, said, "Preventive measures for falls and other accidents, which frequently occur before and after the Lunar New Year holiday, must be taken, and appropriate respiratory protective equipment should be provided to outdoor workers when fine dust warnings are issued." He added, "Even if work is a bit busy, I urge everyone to prioritize safety so that you can enjoy a happy Lunar New Year with your families."
