The 'Galaxy S25 Edge,' the thinnest model in the Galaxy S series, drew cheers from all around as it was unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked 2025. It has long been known as the 'slim' model.

Toward the end of the event, a teaser video for the 'Galaxy S25 Edge' was revealed. Samsung will release the Galaxy S25 Edge, the first thin model in the Galaxy S series. The release is expected in the second quarter of this year.

To emphasize the thinness, the video shows the device from the side. However, the teaser only showed the exterior and did not include information on price or specifications.
The actual Galaxy S25 Edge could also be seen at the exhibition hall. The surprise teaser video event attracted a large crowd at the experience center, and it took more than 10 minutes for people to get a proper look at the Edge prototype. Mr. Piro from Indonesia expressed regret, saying, "There were so many people that I couldn't see it properly."
The Edge model looked thin at a glance and appeared smaller than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It had two camera lenses. According to foreign media and IT tipsters, the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to have a 6.7-inch display and a thickness of 6.4 mm. There are also predictions that its release will be limited to certain countries. The IT specialized media PhoneArena reported, "According to reliable sources, it may be released in only 39 markets."

View original imageThe decision not to release the Edge model simultaneously with the Galaxy S25 series seems to reflect concerns about product sales volume. If there is overlap in performance with the three model types, it could reduce sales of the Galaxy S25 series. Last year in the second half, Samsung also introduced a thinner version of its premium foldable phone, the 'Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (SE),' three months after the Galaxy Z Fold series was launched.
The thickness competition with Apple is also a noteworthy factor. Foreign media and IT tipsters predict that Apple will also release the iPhone 17 Air this year, the thinnest model in the iPhone series to date. The thinnest model so far is the iPhone 6, released in 2015, which is 6.9 mm thick.
However, there were also voices of concern about the Edge model at the venue. David, a reporter from Italy, said, "The already released S25 series is quite good, so I'm not sure if this can deliver better performance," and added, "I'm also worried that the chip inside the device might be cheaper."
The extended reality (XR) device 'Muhan' was also displayed at the Unpacked event experience center. Earlier, Samsung first introduced the XR device 'Project Muhan' at the 'XR Unlock' event held at the Google Campus in New York, USA, last December. Muhan is scheduled for release within this year. XR is a technology that provides experiences crossing between reality and virtual worlds by utilizing users' senses such as sight, hearing, and movement.

He added, "XR products using multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) will change the way we interact with the physical and virtual worlds." Users are expected to be able to explore information and exchange responses conversationally through Google Gemini, allowing Muhan to act as an AI agent.
