Budget of 18.2 Billion KRW Allocated
Goheung Love Gift Certificates to Be Distributed
Goheung County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on the 22nd that it will provide practical support to residents struggling due to complex domestic and international political and economic crises, and to revitalize the stagnant local economy, by granting 300,000 KRW per person as the "Goheung County Livelihood Recovery Support Fund" to all residents regardless of age or income.
The recipients are residents who are registered in Goheung as of December 31, 2024, including marriage immigrants and permanent residents. As of the end of last year, the number of eligible recipients is estimated to be about 60,500, and the total budget required is expected to be 18.2 billion KRW.
The county will implement a strong restructuring of its expenditure budget to secure funding. By cutting unnecessary expenses and reducing operating costs, resources will be secured, and an additional budget will be promptly allocated in February to enable swift payment.
The support fund will be provided in the form of Goheung Love Gift Certificates (policy allowance), a local currency, which can be used at 2,524 affiliated stores in the county, including gas stations, supermarkets, and franchise stores with annual sales of 3 billion KRW or more.
Governor Gong Youngmin stated, "Amid difficult economic conditions, we will provide prompt support so that residents can lead more stable lives," and added, "I hope this Livelihood Recovery Support Fund will stimulate local consumption and serve as a beacon of economic recovery."
Meanwhile, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, Goheung County has urgently injected a total of 5.4 billion KRW into supporting small business owners and other measures to boost the economy and encourage consumption. The county is also holding a "Livelihood Stability Goheung Love Gift Certificate Special Discount Event," allowing anyone to purchase gift certificates at a 15% discount throughout January. In addition, the county expects that the circulation of Goheung Love Gift Certificates worth 26 billion KRW this year will further stimulate local consumption.
