Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju, Appointed as Director of the 12th National Lifelong Learning Cities Council
Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 22nd that the Mayor of Paju was elected as the 12th director of the National Lifelong Learning City Council at the regular general meeting held at the Korea Press Center on the 21st.

View original imageAt the general meeting, attended by heads of lifelong learning city local governments and education superintendents of education support offices, discussions were held on the 2025 lifelong education work plan, the development direction of learning cities, and the election of the 12th executive members.
The National Lifelong Learning Council is a legal consultative body under the Lifelong Education Act, established to promote mutual exchange and cooperation aiming at the development of lifelong learning nationwide. Currently, 199 lifelong learning city local government heads and 74 education superintendents participate as members.
Additionally, the council exchanges information on issues faced by each lifelong learning city and carries out promotion projects for the development of lifelong learning in the regions.
Since being designated as a lifelong learning city in 2018, Paju City has operated various lifelong learning programs such as adult literacy classes and lifelong learning for people with disabilities, striving to create an environment of "lifelong learning without anyone being left behind."

Recognized for these contributions, Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City, who assumed the position of director of the Lifelong Learning City Council, stated, “I am pleased yet feel a heavy responsibility to take on this important role during a time of significant changes in lifelong learning, and I will actively work with great responsibility to promote cooperation among lifelong learning cities.”
