The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) announced on the 22nd that it will be the first among nationwide city and provincial education offices to expand customized welfare for low-experience public officials. Amid the social issue of low-experience public officials leaving their positions, this aims to encourage long-term service and help early settlement in public service.

First-year public officials will receive up to 2 million won annually, combining the basic welfare points of 1 million won with an additional 1 million won.
Along with this, the basic customized welfare points for all teaching staff will be raised from 800,000 won to 1 million won. The health checkup fee of 200,000 won per person, previously supported for teaching staff aged 40 and above, will have its age restriction removed to guarantee welfare improvement and health rights for all teaching staff.
In last year's 'Work Condition Satisfaction Survey' conducted among public officials with less than five years of experience, the satisfaction score for the customized welfare system was 2.89 points, with 88% of respondents requesting an increase in the basic points. Additionally, among 1,589 respondents, more than 57.1% answered that they had an intention to leave due to low salaries and other reasons.
Accordingly, the Office of Education intends to actively support the adaptation of low-experience public officials to public service by strengthening the customized welfare system.
The Office of Education is making efforts to improve the working conditions of low-experience public officials through expanding customized welfare, securing official residences, and enhancing capabilities. The improvement of teaching staff welfare can create a virtuous cycle that strengthens student education and realizes the growth of the educational community.
