LGU+ Launches 'Premium Safety Compensation Plan' to Prevent Smishing
LG Uplus announced on the 22nd that it has launched the country's first 'Premium Safe Compensation Plan,' which enhances security and provides damage compensation.
By using the Premium Safe Compensation Plan, harmful sites that physically damage devices, such as DDoS and ransomware, are automatically blocked. The security service is applied not only when using wired internet but also when using wireless internet. For example, even if a phone connected to the Wi-Fi of this product receives a harmful internet address (URL), access to the site is blocked, preventing smishing (a combination of SMS and phishing) damage.
If security damage occurs while using this plan, compensation is also provided. Subscribers to plans of 500M or higher can receive compensation up to 3 million KRW once a year if they suffer financial damage due to personal information theft or financial fraud. Subscribers to the 1G plan can also receive repair costs up to 500,000 KRW once a year if their PC or laptop is damaged due to the incident.
The usage fees vary according to internet speed: ▲100M at 27,500 KRW per month ▲500M at 34,100 KRW per month ▲1G at 39,600 KRW per month. Subscribers to the 1G plan can also use the 'PC Additional Connection Service,' which allows internet access on up to three PCs with a single line.
Additionally, LG Uplus plans to launch a 2.5G speed product along with the Wi-Fi 7 router in the first quarter of this year. The Wi-Fi 7 router speed is expected to reach 5.7Gbps, more than four times faster than existing routers (1.2Gbps).
Inho Oh, Head of LG Uplus Home Business Division (Senior Vice President), said, "We have strengthened security services to allow safe internet use and added compensation measures to support any potential damages that may occur."
