Yoon Attends 3rd Impeachment Trial Hearing... Constitutional Court "Movement Route Cannot Be Disclosed"
President Yoon Likely to Be Given Opportunity to Speak
"Presiding Judge May Also Conduct Questioning"
The Constitutional Court announced that it cannot disclose the movement route of President Yoon Seok-yeol, who will attend the third impeachment trial hearing at 2 p.m. on the 21st. This is interpreted as a measure considering security-related situations, as he is still serving as the incumbent president.
Cheon Jae-hyun, the Constitutional Court spokesperson, responded at the regular briefing that details about President Yoon's movement route during the hearing "cannot be disclosed as it is a security matter." Regarding the location where President Yoon stays during the recess, he also said, "It is difficult to disclose as it is a matter to be discussed with the security office."
Additionally, it was revealed that the notification of President Yoon's attendance was received around 9:55 p.m. the previous day. Spokesperson Cheon explained, "On the afternoon of the 20th, we received a notice through President Yoon's representative that he would attend," adding, "We consulted with the security office regarding security issues, and the arrangements have been finalized."
Regarding security within the courtroom, he answered, "Basically, security measures are being implemented inside the courtroom," and added, "The presiding judge's authority to direct the proceedings and maintain order is exercised."
President Yoon is also expected to be given an opportunity to speak during the hearing. Spokesperson Cheon said, "It seems that the respondent will be granted an opportunity to speak inside the courtroom," and "The presiding judge may also conduct questioning."
