Chosun University has been promoting the university innovation project of 'Advancing Hybrid Teaching and Learning Environments' in response to the development of advanced ICT technologies and the growth of the edutech market, which are accelerating the transition to future-oriented educational environments.
Professor Yoo Seonkyung of the Chosun University College of Dentistry planned the 'Development of VR/AR Experimental and Practical Content for Digital Dental Education' in 2023, and was selected for the Chosun University Innovation Support Project.
YST won this project based on its experience and expertise in producing, developing, and commercializing content using VR, MR, and XR technologies. Professors Yoo Seonkyung and Kim Heungjoong collaborated in industry-academic research with YST to develop a prototype of oral anatomy learning VR content and filed a patent application.
The 'Oral Anatomy Learning VR Content' is a technology that uses VR to provide learners with virtual reality content featuring visual and intuitive learning elements such as the skull, cranial nerves, blood vessels, oral cavity, and dental structures.
To achieve this, 3D modeling data was used to create a virtual learning space and various 3D objects in a 3D engine environment, integrating user UI/UX to enable interactive learning features.
Professors Yoo Seonkyung and Kim Heungjoong are conducting practical verification of the learning effectiveness and technology of the oral anatomy learning VR content prototype, and plan to further enhance it into a virtual clinical education environment by adding various learning data.
Kim Yongjae, Director of the Chosun University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, stated, "We plan to secure patent rights for this technology not only in Korea but also in many countries overseas," and added, "We will strive to lead not only in academic excellence but also in technological advancement."
