During this time, the Public Health Center will maintain a 24-hour emergency contact system to monitor and respond to any outbreaks of waterborne and foodborne infectious diseases and diarrhea clusters.
During the holiday period, interactions increase due to visits to family and relatives, and especially this year, with the extended holiday, domestic and international travel is expected to rise, necessitating special caution regarding waterborne and foodborne infectious diseases.
Recently, cases of norovirus infection, which mainly occur in winter, have been continuously increasing, particularly among infants and young children (ages 0-6). Therefore, it is important not only to be cautious about food consumption but also to adhere to infectious disease prevention guidelines to prevent person-to-person transmission.
Additionally, waterborne and foodborne infectious diseases such as norovirus can be prevented by practicing personal hygiene and hygienic food preparation. Preventive measures such as "washing hands with soap for more than 30 seconds" and "washing ingredients under running water and cooking them safely" must be followed. In cases where a cluster outbreak involving two or more people is suspected, it must be reported immediately to the local Public Health Center.
