12-Vehicle Chain Collision on Hanam Sejong-Pocheon Expressway... 1 Person in Cardiac Arrest
At around 6:51 PM on the 20th, a chain collision involving 12 vehicles occurred near the Seo Hanam Junction on the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway heading towards Seoul in Hanam-si, Gyeonggi Province.
As a result of the accident, a man in his 40s who was seated in the back seat of a Starex van was transported to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest.
Two other men in their 40s who were also in the same vehicle sustained head injuries but are reported to be in stable condition.
The accident is believed to have been caused when a 3.5-ton cargo truck traveling in the second lane rear-ended the Starex in front of it.
Following the impact, vehicles in the first and second lanes collided one after another.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances based on witness statements, suspecting that the cargo truck failed to reduce speed in the congested area, leading to the accident.
