Han Zheng, Vice President of China and a special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is attending the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, met with Vice President-elect JD Vance and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, according to China's state-run Xinhua News Agency on the 20th.
On the 19th (local time), Vice President Han met with Vice President-elect Vance in Washington, D.C., conveying President Xi's greetings to President-elect Trump and congratulating Vance on his election.
Vice President Han conveyed that President Xi recently spoke with President-elect Trump and that they reached important agreements on the next phase of China-U.S. relations, expressing the intention to promote stable, healthy, and sustainable development of bilateral relations. He also stated that economic and trade relations are important issues of mutual concern for both countries, with significant common interests and cooperation opportunities, and that dialogue and consultations can be strengthened in this regard.
According to the Associated Press, the Trump transition team stated that "Vice President Han and Vice President-elect Vance discussed various topics including fentanyl, trade balance, and regional stability."
Vice President Han also met with representatives from the economic sector, including the U.S.-China Trade National Committee and the U.S.-China Chamber of Commerce. He met with CEO Musk as well, expressing welcome for Tesla and other American companies to seize opportunities, share in China's development achievements, and contribute more significantly to the enhancement of China-U.S. economic and trade relations.
