View original imageA post titled "The public are dogs and pigs, let's endure a little longer" was brazenly uploaded under the name of Park, a close aide to Jeju Governor Oh Younghoon, in an anonymous open chat room, sparking controversy in the local community.
The Park mentioned in the chat room is known to be the nephew-in-law of Governor Oh, currently working in the Jeju Provincial Secretariat. In 2022, during the National Assembly audit of Jeju Province, Representative Park Sungmin (People Power Party, Jung-gu, Ulsan) questioned whether this constituted nepotism. At the time, Governor Oh explained that hiring his nephew-in-law did not fall under the legal category of kinship according to civil law.
The post under Park's name stating "The public are dogs and pigs, let's endure a little longer" appeared on the 2nd in an anonymous chat room created to demand the withdrawal of the appointment of the Jeju Youth Center Director, called "Jeju Youth Center Director Appointment Withdrawal Response Room."
In the captured image of the chat room, an account with Park's name entered at 7:20 PM, posted links to youth-related YouTube videos and news articles, then left the message "The public are dogs and pigs, let's endure a little longer," and exited at 7:31 PM, just over ten minutes later.
In a climate where national sentiment is subdued due to the impeachment situation of President Yoon Sukyeol and the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster, the post referring to the public as "dogs and pigs" was immediately captured. The account name matched that of Governor Oh's nephew-in-law, who works in the Jeju Provincial Secretariat, leading to controversy spreading on social media.
On one social media platform, posts such as "Aide issue 2," "He is supposedly the closest aide to the most powerful person in the neighborhood," and "They say it's a different person with the same name, but who knows," have been appearing, seemingly referring to Park indirectly.
In a phone call with this outlet, Park said, "I was informed about the controversy by people around me. However, I have never participated in such a chat room. I believe it was either someone with the same name or an account impersonating me in an anonymous open chat room. Who would use their real name in an anonymous room?"
Regarding the need to request a police investigation to confirm the facts or uncover any planned slander, he stated, "I just think, 'Those poor people act like that.' There's no need to overreact, and I am not considering requesting an investigation."
