These are among the leading causes of death in Korea, with difficult treatment upon onset and significant medical expenses and socioeconomic burdens due to aftereffects.
The proportion of the elderly population aged 65 and over in Gangseo-gu increased from 17% in 2022 to 18.1% in 2023, highlighting the growing need for systematic management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
The district operates a free health class targeting workers exposed to health risk factors such as stress, poor dietary and lifestyle habits, and inadequate disease management. The health class runs from March to October this year, with professional instructors providing education on hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia?which can lead to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases?as well as proper nutrition intake and appropriate exercise methods.
Eligible participants are workplaces within Gangseo-gu that can secure at least 35 education participants and have a lecture room available. Applications can be made by phone to the Gangseo-gu Public Health Center from the 21st of this month until the 14th of next month. The district expects to aid early detection and management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases by providing prevention-focused health management services.
