Israel continues airstrikes after ceasefire agreement... "73 dead"
Despite the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas, airstrikes continued in the Gaza Strip, resulting in at least 73 deaths, Al Jazeera and other broadcasters reported on the 16th (local time).
According to the Palestinian Civil Defense, since the announcement of the ceasefire agreement the previous day, at least 73 people, including 20 children and 25 women, have died and more than 230 have been injured due to Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip.
The Civil Defense added that 61 people died in Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip alone.
Mediators including Qatar announced the previous day that both Israel and Hamas agreed to a three-stage ceasefire: halting hostilities for six weeks (42 days), exchanging hostages and Palestinian detainees, and discussing a permanent ceasefire.
