Shinsegae Property Pays Second Interim Land Payment of 7.74 Billion KRW
Construction of Shopping Mall and Condominiums to Begin in 2026 and Complete in 2030

The development project for the Eodeungsan Tourism Complex, which will include facilities such as 'Grand Starfield Gwangju', is progressing smoothly with the establishment of a local corporation and the payment of the interim land cost.

According to Gwangju City on the 16th, the private developer of the 'Eodeungsan Tourism Complex Amusement Site Development Project', Shinsegae Property Co., Ltd., paid the second interim land payment of 7.74 billion KRW to Gwangju Urban Corporation on this day, as stipulated in the agreement.

This follows the payment of the agreement performance guarantee (11.6 billion KRW) and land contract deposit (8.6 billion KRW) by Shinsegae Property in January last year, the establishment of the local corporation 'Starfield Gwangju Co., Ltd.' and the signing of the master plan (MP) service contract in March, and the payment of the first interim land cost (7.74 billion KRW) in July.

Gwangju Urban Corporation and Shinsegae Property signed an agreement on December 22, 2023, outlining the details of the Eodeungsan Tourism Complex Amusement Site Development Project.

According to the agreement, Shinsegae Property will proceed with the detailed design of the amusement site in the first half of this year and will go through the process of changing the development plan in the second half. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with 'Grand Starfield Gwangju', 'condominiums', and 'ancillary facilities' to be completed in 2030, and the 'residences' to be completed in 2033.

Mayor Kang Gijung said, "The Eodeungsan Tourism Complex will become not only a tourism hub for the southwestern region encompassing Honam, but also a staycation hotspot visited from all over Korea. Furthermore, we will actively provide administrative support to develop it into a premium, integrated tourism complex that encompasses tourism, recreation, culture, leisure, and shopping. Once the detailed plans are released, we also plan to proceed with win-win consultations for local small business owners."
