On the 16th, Kim Kyung-il, mayor of Paju City, announced, "We will focus on three major administrative goals: building a leading basic society city in the Republic of Korea, rapidly entering a self-sufficient city of one million, and constructing a cultural and ecological leisure hub in the metropolitan area."

Mayor Kim presented "Building a leading basic society city in the Republic of Korea" as the first administrative goal. Starting with the "Livelihood Recovery and Living Stability Support Fund" of 100,000 KRW per person to be distributed from the 21st, he explained plans including △ issuing Paju Pay (local currency) and maintaining maximum incentives △ supporting youth fares for village buses and Paprika buses as part of the "Paju-type basic youth transportation" △ promoting public operation of village buses △ establishing Paju-type public nursing facilities.
Next, he proposed "Rapid entry into a self-sufficient city of one million." Mayor Kim declared that, based on last year's milestone of entering a 500,000 population city, he will accelerate the implementation of various policies across all fields including urban development, transportation, culture, and education aimed at leaping to a self-sufficient city of one million.
Specific implementation plans include △ focusing capabilities on attracting various companies through designation of the Peace Economy Special Zone and Economic Free Zone △ promoting the attraction of "Paju Dome," a cutting-edge sports convergence city development blending sports, culture, and commerce △ early groundbreaking of the Paju Medical Cluster and attracting a general hospital △ advancing GTX station area development with completion of detailed design for GTX Cultural Park and approval of commercial and office facilities by private developers △ building future railway networks such as Subway Line 3, Tongil Line, KTX Munsan extension, and GTX-H line.

View original imageAdditionally, key projects of the 8th elected term of Paju City include △ closing of prostitution districts △ full-scale promotion of pilot projects in education development special zones △ globalization of corporate expos △ full operation of the Paju Cultural Foundation to establish the foundation for a cultural city of one million, all presented as important tasks for future development.
The third administrative goal, "Building a cultural and ecological leisure hub in the metropolitan area," plans to transform Paju City's abundant cultural and ecological resources into another driving force for future development, with major focus projects including △ promoting the creation of Imjingang Provincial Garden and Gongneungcheon Provincial Ecological Garden △ Yulgok Cultural Belt development project △ establishment of the National Yulgok Spirit Culture Promotion Institute △ advancement of DMZ peace tourism.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il said that the administrative plans and implementation measures presented for Paju City are "a necessary and inevitable path for the citizens and for a better future of Paju," adding, "This year as well, together with about 2,000 Paju city officials, we will go all in (All人) on livelihood and sprint with full force for livelihood recovery and future development."
