The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency conducted CEO-led on-site management in the shipbuilding industry on the 15th to prevent major accidents and establish a self-regulatory prevention system.

This on-site management was carried out to inspect safety and health activities at the site and to establish a self-regulatory prevention system through sharing key safety and health policies and current issues, as the number of fatal accidents in the shipbuilding industry increased in 2024 compared to the previous year.
Ahn Jong-joo, Director of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, conducted on-site inspections while touring Samsung Heavy Industries' LNG shipbuilding process and Hanwha Ocean's offshore plant construction area, discussing key safety and health policies and issues related to establishing a risk assessment-centered self-regulatory prevention system in the shipbuilding industry.

Director Ahn said, “The shipbuilding industry is a core industry in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions, characterized by high-intensity work and pressing issues including an increase in foreign and elderly workers. The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency will focus its capabilities to ensure that safety and health management systems in the shipbuilding sites can be autonomously established.”
