2024 Gyeryong Military Culture Festival Wins Korea Festival Content Grand Prize
The Gyeryong City Foundation for Culture and Tourism announced on the 16th that the Gyeryong Military Culture Festival has been selected as the grand prize winner in the Festival Content category at the 13th Korea Festival Content Awards.
The 2024 Gyeryong Military Culture Festival is the largest military culture-related festival in Korea and has been co-hosted with the Army's "Ground Forces Festival" since 2007.
The festival is recognized for its significant contributions to the development of local culture and arts, revitalization of tourism, regional economic growth, and raising public awareness of national security.
In particular, the festival moved beyond exhibition-focused events by offering a variety of interactive programs where visitors could participate directly, such as boarding military equipment, operating a defense experience center, and experiencing military training, which received enthusiastic responses from attendees.
Mayor Lee Eungwoo said, "I am delighted that our joint efforts between civilians and the military to provide unique military-related experiences not available elsewhere have been recognized," adding, "We will repay the public's support for the 2025 Gyeryong Military Culture Festival with even newer and more enriching programs."
Meanwhile, the awards ceremony for the 13th Korea Festival Content Awards will be held on February 25 at the Peace & Park Convention inside the War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan, Seoul.
