National Pukyong University Student Team Wins Excellence Award at Gyeongnam Seafood Byproduct Startup and Commercialization Competition
Proposing a Customized Feed Idea for Ornamental Fish and Turtles
The Startup Club Neulim Team (Advisor: Professor Lee Seung-hyung) of the LINC 3.0 Project Group at Pukyong National University (Director Ryu Ji-yeol) won the Excellence Award at the '2024 Gyeongnam Fisheries Byproduct Startup Commercialization Competition.'
Neulim Team, composed of Moon Jun-hyeok, Park Sang-min, and Jo Eun-chae, students majoring in Aquaculture Applied Life Sciences at Pukyong National University, proposed a startup idea for ornamental fish and turtle feed using customized fisheries byproducts. They won the Excellence Award, the Gyeongnam Technopark Director's Award, in the incubation category of this competition.
This competition was hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Gyeongnam Province, and organized by Gyeongnam Technopark and Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center. It was held to discover and nurture startups and entrepreneurs with promising ideas utilizing fisheries (fish) byproducts in cooperation with Dongwon F&B, and to support the commercialization of excellent product items.
The idea from the Pukyong National University student team was evaluated as an excellent startup idea by proposing the development of customized feed considering the health of semi-aquatic turtles and ornamental fish, utilizing representative fisheries byproducts such as skipjack tuna byproducts, snow crab and shrimp shells.

The competition began with preliminary evaluations in November, followed by in-depth consumer interviews and refinement of startup ideas until December, and recently selected the award-winning teams through the final judging held at the aT Center in Yangjae, Seoul.
