Yeongam County to Provide Basic Birth Allowance of 200,000 Won Monthly
Up to 43 Million KRW in Support
Apply at Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Centers or on Government24
Yeongam County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Woo Seunghee) announced on the 13th that, in response to population decline due to low birth rates and an aging population, it will provide a basic birth allowance of 200,000 KRW per month starting this year, in cooperation with Jeollanam-do.
The basic birth allowance is provided to one-year-old children who are born after 2024, have registered their birth in Jeollanam-do, and have their address in Yeongam County, regardless of income level. However, both the child and the guardian must have resident registration in Yeongam County and continue to reside there as of the date of birth registration.
The support amount consists of 100,000 KRW from Jeollanam-do and 100,000 KRW in local currency from Yeongam County, paid on the 25th of each month. From this year, a total of 43,200,000 KRW will be provided per person over 18 years, at a rate of 200,000 KRW per month until the year the child turns 18.
Applications can be made from one month before the child’s first birthday at the local Eup or Myeon Administrative Welfare Center or online through the 'Government24' website.
Kim Sunmi, Director of the Population and Youth Division, said, “With this policy of Yeongam County raising children born here, we aim to prevent population decline and lay the foundation for a sustainable Yeongam.”
