Yoon's Legal Team Submits Notice of Counsel Appointment to the Corruption Investigation Office
The legal team representing President Yoon Seok-yeol submitted a notice of attorney appointment to the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Division on the 12th.
According to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), on the same day, four legal representatives for President Yoon, including attorney Yoon Gap-geun, visited the CIO's civil affairs office to submit the notice of appointment and met with prosecutors and investigators from the investigation team.
The legal team reportedly conveyed to the CIO that coordination is necessary to prevent physical clashes between the police and the Presidential Security Service, and expressed the opinion that President Yoon cannot be prosecuted for abuse of power, questioning whether it is possible to arrest or detain him on charges of rebellion, which is a related crime.
President Yoon's side had also visited the CIO on the 8th with the intention of submitting a notice of attorney appointment and requested a meeting with the investigation team, but the CIO refused, resulting in the failure of the meeting, they stated.
