Uiryeong-gun Urges 'Flu Vaccination and Adherence to Personal Hygiene Rules' for Prevention
Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has recently urged residents to get vaccinated and follow personal hygiene guidelines amid the ongoing spread of respiratory infectious diseases such as influenza.
Since the nationwide influenza outbreak advisory was issued on December 20 last year, Uiryeong-gun has been intensively promoting respiratory infectious disease prevention measures at vulnerable facilities such as kindergartens and daycare centers within the county.
Influenza is an acute respiratory disease transmitted through the respiratory tract of infected patients, characterized by symptoms such as fever over 38℃, cough, or sore throat. If these symptoms appear, it is important to promptly seek medical care at a nearby healthcare facility. Special caution is required for high-risk groups such as the elderly and infants, as there is a risk of complications and worsening of underlying diseases.
The government-supported free vaccination provided by public health centers targets children aged 6 months to 13 years, pregnant women, and seniors aged 65 and older. Uiryeong-gun has expanded this to include residents aged 14 to 64 and residents of infection-vulnerable facilities. Other residents can receive paid vaccinations at public health centers and medical institutions.
Prevention measures for respiratory infectious diseases such as influenza include ▲ practicing proper cough etiquette ▲ wearing masks ▲ washing hands correctly ▲ ventilating indoor spaces frequently ▲ and visiting medical institutions if respiratory symptoms occur.
