Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 9th that Mayor Lee Sang-il, who is visiting the United States, visited 'CES 2025' held in Las Vegas, Nevada on the 7th (local time) to tour major company booths and discuss corporate support measures.
On that day, Mayor Lee toured SK Hynix's exhibition hall to see products utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and listened to the company's collaboration plans with Qualcomm, Dell, Nvidia, and others.

In particular, Mayor Lee stopped by the 'Yongin Special City Pavilion' located in the 'Eureka Park' within the event venue to encourage company representatives. Eureka Park is a gathering place for startups recognized for their technological capabilities, and to operate a booth there, the event organizer, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) of the United States, must approve. Five companies participated in the Yongin Special City Pavilion: ▲CP6 ▲Digital Log Technologies ▲Global High-Tech Electronics ▲Noeul ▲WisMedical.
Mayor Lee then met with Lim Dong-seok, CEO of Holmes AI, which won the Innovation Award at this event for its AI-based heart disease prediction platform technology, exchanging views on major achievements and technological innovation.
Mayor Lee said, "At CES 2025, I was able to see the abundant ideas and imagination of Korean startups," adding, "I believe that for Korean companies to secure competitiveness and technological capabilities in the global market, the central government and local governments must provide substantial support."
At this occasion, Mayor Lee also emphasized the urgent need for the prompt passage of the 'Special Act for Strengthening Semiconductor Industry Competitiveness and Innovative Growth (Semiconductor Special Act),' which has been stalled in the National Assembly. He urged, "I ask the National Assembly to enact the special law within January to help semiconductor industry talents work flexibly and develop excellent advanced technologies."

View original imageIn the afternoon, Mayor Lee spent an hour touring the 'Integrated Korea Pavilion' booths of KAIST, Seoul National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (SNU), and POSTECH. Victor Hoskins, Director of Economic Development for Fairfax County, Virginia, accompanied him. Fairfax County is scheduled to sign a friendship exchange agreement with Yongin City on the 13th.
