Yangsan Foreign Workers Support Center, Ranked No.1 Nationwide in Ministry of Employment and Labor Evaluation
Strengthening Center Roles, Supporting Local Settlement of Foreign Workers
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam announced that the Yangsan Foreign Workers Support Center received an S grade in the Ministry of Employment and Labor's evaluation of the '2024 Foreign Workers Regional Settlement Support Project,' ranking first nationwide.
The Yangsan Support Center achieved the highest score among a total of nine foreign worker support centers nationwide, including six metropolitan centers (Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Gwangju, Chungnam, Jeonbuk) and three basic centers (Yangsan, Changwon, Gimhae), based on the combined scores of seven evaluation criteria such as project plan implementation fidelity, achievement rate of project goals, participant satisfaction, and efforts to revitalize the project. As a result, it secured an additional 20 million KRW in national funding as a financial incentive.
The Yangsan Support Center, which opened in March last year with a total budget of 400 million KRW including 200 million KRW in national funds and 140 million KRW in city funds, has been providing foreign workers with grievance counseling, Korean language education, informatization education, cultural understanding education, cultural events, and various activities. It received excellent evaluations by promoting various specialized projects reflecting regional characteristics, such as operating a global leader group, Korean culture exploration, and hosting the Foreign Workers Rak (樂) Festival.

A Yangsan City official stated, "This evaluation result is an achievement made possible by the active support of the local community and the passion of the center members," adding, "We will do our best to maintain stable employment and regional settlement by strengthening the center's role through accurate information provision and active grievance counseling so that foreign workers do not experience anxiety about their stay amid the current political situation and domestic economic downturn."
