In September last year, we held a seminar at the National Assembly and submitted a proposal containing these details to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT). We are working closely with MOLIT and Seoul City to expedite the timing of easing the height restrictions.”
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is currently revising the international standards for height restrictions, which will take effect this year and be fully implemented by 2028. From this perspective, the possibility of easing height restrictions at Gimpo Airport is increasing, according to Gangseo District. The district self-assesses that its ongoing efforts have brought about significant changes in easing the height restrictions at Gimpo Airport.
Seoul City established the ‘Gimpo Airport Height Restriction Easing Task Force’ last year and has now launched a research project for easing height restrictions at Gimpo Airport. This is the first time Seoul City has conducted its own research project. MOLIT also recognized the need to ease height restrictions and decided to proceed with a related research project.
On this day, Mayor Jin explained not only the easing of height restrictions at Gimpo Airport but also major projects closely related to residents’ lives, such as housing maintenance projects including redevelopment and reconstruction, the Gimpo Airport Innovation District project, and the Gonghang-dong Life SOC Complex project, which includes facilities for residents’ convenience such as swimming pools and libraries. Additionally, he announced plans to provide lunch five days a week at senior centers, expand job opportunities for the elderly, support shingles vaccination, and operate village management offices.
