Silla University and Bank of Korea Sign MOU... Collaboration on CBDC Usability Testing
Shilla University (President Heo Nam-sik) has signed a business agreement with the Bank of Korea to conduct a usability test of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
Shilla University and the Bank of Korea held a business agreement ceremony regarding the CBDC usability test, focusing on conducting deposit token issuance and payment tests using the digital voucher function for Shilla University students. The ceremony took place in the small conference room on the 16th floor of the Bank of Korea headquarters, attended by key officials from both institutions, including Hee-tae Lee, Vice President for External Affairs at Shilla University, Hee-jung Jang, Director of Student Support, Jong-ryeol Lee, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Korea, and Byung-mok Lee, Director of the Financial Settlement Bureau.
The two institutions agreed to mutually cooperate on △building payment and settlement infrastructure that can use deposit tokens with digital voucher functions △providing physical and human resources to establish the infrastructure △establishing policies for granting and operating digital voucher functions △guiding and promoting users and usage locations, as well as technology development, information provision, and other support necessary for the successful execution of the CBDC usability test.

Hee-tae Lee, Vice President for External Affairs at Shilla University, stated, “We understand better than anyone the necessity of digital vouchers while operating Shilla Money to enhance student convenience and revitalize the local economy.” He added, “Through this agreement with the Bank of Korea, we hope to successfully complete the usability test of digital currency and further improve student convenience.” He also said, “We will strive to carry out various projects with the Bank of Korea not only for student convenience but also for economic development.”
