AI Grows Strawberries... Multifunctional Agricultural Robot Debuts at CES
Daedong's First Participation at CES
Unveiling the AI Blueprint for Future Agriculture
“Move the strawberry seedlings,” the robot begins to move upon hearing this command. Not only does it transplant the seedlings, but it also performs delicate tasks such as removing unnecessary branches to create an environment where strawberries can grow well. The artificial intelligence (AI) installed in this robot understands human voice commands, perceives the surrounding environment, and independently judges and executes various tasks. This is the story of Daedong’s ‘multifunctional agricultural robot,’ which made its debut at CES 2025, the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition.
On the 9th, Daedong announced that it showcased its AI agricultural technology at CES 2025 held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in the United States. Participating in CES for the first time, Daedong exhibited the multifunctional agricultural robot along with an AI plant cultivator and a precision agriculture tractor. Among these, Daedong explained that the multifunctional agricultural robot and the plant cultivator equipped with AI technology have attracted significant attention from visitors.

View original imageThe multifunctional agricultural robot unveiled by Daedong for the first time is characterized by a single robot performing the entire crop growth process based on one AI model. This technology allows AI to learn directly from humans or simulators, enabling flexible responses to various tasks and movements. It presents the possibility of overcoming the limitations of existing agricultural robots that automate only specific tasks such as sowing, harvesting, and sorting. At the exhibition, numerous inquiries were received regarding how the robot performs strawberry harvesting, the operation time, and the amount of training data required, Daedong explained. Visitors also showed interest in whether this robot could be applied in other industries and if remote control via the cloud is possible.
The AI plant cultivator also attracted local attention. This product, which won the CES 2025 Innovation Award, features AI that observes the growth environment for each crop, automatically adjusts it, analyzes the condition, and can predict the harvest time. This is achieved through the advanced agricultural solution technology called ‘Smart Farming,’ based on AI and agricultural big data. When a seed capsule is placed in the cultivator, the AI-equipped camera recognizes the variety from the captured images, assesses the growth status, and automatically controls the environment?such as temperature, humidity, lighting, and nutrient solution?according to the plant’s needs. The growth of the plants can also be monitored in real time through a dedicated app. The cultivator can grow 22 varieties, including general crops and functional crops. Daedong plans to provide an environment where anyone can easily cultivate customized plants necessary for personal health in urban or indoor settings through the AI cultivator.
