The research committee is composed of a total of 17 members, including senior research fellow Jang Ji-yeon from the Korea Labor Institute and standing member Kim Deok-ho from the ESLC as co-chairs, two representatives each from labor and management sectors, one each from government ministries (Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy), and nine expert members. It is scheduled to operate for 10 months from the launch date until November 7.

The committee will focus its discussions on four main topics: ▲ the impact of AI technology adoption on employment ▲ changes in working methods using AI ▲ legislative and institutional improvement plans for job creation and worker protection ▲ talent development plans including AI technology education and training.

At the inaugural meeting, which also served as the first plenary session, a presentation and discussion were held under the theme 'Challenges and Responses to AI' (Park Tae-woong, Chairman of the Noxer Forum).

Co-chair Jang Ji-yeon emphasized the importance of understanding and building consensus among labor, management, and government regarding the changes and impacts AI technology will bring, stating, "Through the committee’s discussions, we will organize the core tasks and directions we need to address and produce meaningful outcomes." Co-chair Kim Deok-ho said, "There are many questions and concerns our society must ask and consider about AI," adding, "Since labor, management, and government are all participating, I hope we can review and research issues from diverse perspectives."

Chairman Kwon Ki-seop of the ESLC said, "Rather than facing an uncertain future unprepared, it is urgent to understand technological advancements and for labor, management, and government to join forces and respond proactively," and added, "I look forward to in-depth discussions in this research committee on what kind of labor environment and policies should be established for technology and labor to harmonize."
