Seodaemun-gu Opens 'Smart Seodaemun Ieumgil' for Hikers' Safety and Convenience
Installation of Smart Poles in the Bukhansan to Baekryeonsan Section and Others
Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 7th that it has recently opened the second section of the ‘Smart Seodaemun Connection Path,’ which integrates 4th Industrial Revolution technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The district is promoting this project using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance the safety and convenience of citizens visiting five mountains within the jurisdiction: Bukhansan, Baekryeonsan, Ansan (鞍山), Inwangsan, and Gungdongsan.
Through this second phase, Seodaemun Smart Poles (intelligent pillars) equipped with Seodaemun Wi-Fi, LED security lights, smart alert devices, digital signage (electronic information boards), intelligent CCTV, and emergency bells have been installed at 11 locations, including the Bukhansan-Baekryeonsan section and Ansan Bongsudae.
The district applied the latest wireless technology, ‘WiFi 6,’ to ‘Seodaemun Wi-Fi’ to provide a high-quality wireless internet environment, and the ‘LED security lights’ improve safety and comfort for nighttime hikers.
The ‘Smart Alert’ device quickly and accurately displays weather information such as air quality, temperature, and humidity. In particular, it uses four colors?blue (good), green (moderate), yellow (bad), and red (very bad)?along with emoticons to intuitively indicate ultrafine dust, fine dust, and ozone levels for anyone to easily understand. The ‘Digital Signage (electronic information board)’ conveys various district administration information and useful safety content.
CCTVs equipped with ‘intelligent selective monitoring technology’ provide real-time footage to the ‘CCTV Integrated Control Center’ at Seodaemun-gu Office in case of emergencies, supporting early response. Additionally, emergency bells accessible to anyone during urgent situations have been installed on the Smart Poles. Previously, the district installed Smart Poles at 15 locations along the Ansan Jarak-gil section in 2023, receiving positive feedback from users.
