Police Expand Investigation into Malicious Posts on Jeju Air Disaster... "Strict Response to Defamation and Insults"
The police announced on the 2nd that they will expand investigations into malicious posts such as defamation and insults against the victims and bereaved families of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster and respond strictly.
The National Police Agency has formed a "Special Investigation Team for Malicious Posts Related to the Jeju Air Passenger Plane Accident," led by the head of the Investigation Bureau of the National Investigation Headquarters.
Dedicated investigation teams at each city and provincial police agency will strengthen monitoring of malicious posts and various videos online, and upon discovering illegal activities, will initiate pre-indictment investigations and take measures to delete and block such content.
Currently, the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency Investigation Headquarters is conducting pre-indictment investigations on a total of four cases, and 64 complaints received through the Cyber Crime Reporting System (ECRM) will be promptly forwarded to the dedicated investigation teams at city and provincial police agencies.
