Jeonnam Governor Kim Youngrok Proposes Special Law for Memorial Park Establishment

On the 2nd, Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, met with Choi Sangmok, Acting President, and Woo Wonshik, Speaker of the National Assembly, who visited the memorial altar at Muan International Airport, and strongly proposed countermeasures for handling the Jeju Air passenger plane accident.
The main proposals by Governor Kim included: ▲enactment of a special law for victim support and prevention of recurrence ▲establishment of a memorial park ▲emergency living expenses support for bereaved families ▲strict crackdown on rumors and defamatory posts.

View original imageGovernor Kim suggested the need to establish an organization to prepare support measures such as compensation and indemnification, and to enact a special law that includes revitalization of the local economy and construction of memorial facilities.
He also requested the prompt provision of emergency living support funds for the livelihood of bereaved families, as well as the creation of a memorial park for the victims and the healing of the bereaved families.
In addition, he proposed a strong crackdown on rumors and defamatory posts to prevent further secondary damage to the bereaved families who are already suffering from the shock of the accident.
In response, Acting President Choi Sangmok replied, "We will do our utmost to prevent such accidents from recurring and strive to make this an opportunity for Muan International Airport to be reborn."
