Wonju City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Won Kang-soo) announced on the 2nd that it will operate the Wonju Pavilion at 'CES 2025,' the world's largest information technology (IT) and consumer electronics exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, from the 7th to the 10th, taking a historic first step to pioneer the North American market for AI convergence and digital healthcare industries.
A delegation of 25 members from seven major institutions, including Wonju City, Yonsei University Future Campus, Halla University, Sangji University, Wonju Yonsei Medical Center, Wonju Medical Device Techno Valley, and Wonju Future Industry Promotion Agency, will participate in the North American market pioneering tour.
The delegation will visit the United States for 5 nights and 7 days from January 6 to 12, intensifying cooperation and innovation with the global technology ecosystem and opening the future of Wonju City.
Along with eight Wonju companies selected through fierce competition, the delegation will open the 'Wonju Pavilion' for the first time at CES 2025, unveiling advanced technologies and innovative products to showcase their vision to the world.
In particular, Wonju company Team Elysium Co., Ltd. has been confirmed as the first digital healthcare company in Gangwon Province to receive the CES Innovation Award, and a congratulatory event will be held at the opening ceremony of the Wonju Pavilion on the 7th.
At the opening ceremony, Mayor Won Kang-soo will present Wonju City's vision for future industries and international potential in his opening remarks, solidifying Wonju's position on the global stage.
During CES 2025, the delegation will visit booths of world-renowned companies such as SK, LG Electronics, and Dassault Syst?mes to explore the latest technology trends and development potential and strengthen strategic collaboration with global technology leaders.
The delegation plans to seek cooperation methods that allow Wonju companies to gain technological advantages in the global market and lay the groundwork for expanding international networks.
After completing the CES 2025 schedule, the delegation will visit the headquarters of NVIDIA and INTEL located in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, to discuss cooperation plans and open a new horizon for nurturing AI semiconductor talent.
With NVIDIA, a new cooperative relationship will be established to promote the technological advancement of Wonju's digital healthcare industry using GPU and AI, and to review talent development plans through global education programs.
Based on the business agreement signed in September 2023 with Intel, the delegation will concretize the utilization of AI semiconductor technology combined with the digital healthcare industry and the talent development programs required for this.
Based on cooperation with these two global companies, the delegation will establish an AI semiconductor specialized workforce training program linked with Wonju's universities and industries, providing local youth with opportunities to acquire global competitiveness and advanced technological capabilities.
As the final schedule, Mayor Won Kang-soo will deliver a special lecture to students and researchers at Stanford University. This lecture is expected to be an important opportunity to open practical cooperation possibilities between the city and Stanford University beyond simple promotion of Wonju City.
In his lecture, Mayor Won will emphasize Wonju City's current achievements and future vision centered on AI convergence and digital healthcare industries, focusing on strengthening the global competitiveness of regional industries and laying the foundation for future innovation through close cooperation with Stanford University.
