Kim Kidong Achieves Reading 1,000 Picture Books in 8 Months
Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) recently announced on the 31st that the first completer of the Gijang-gun children's reading project, "One Thousand Picture Books," has emerged.
The protagonist is Kim Gi-dong, a first-grade student attending Banggok Elementary School. Since participating in "One Thousand Picture Books" in May, Kim Gi-dong has read all 1,000 picture books in just eight months.
Kim Gi-dong shared, "Reading books was fun, so I wanted to read faster, and the process of reading 1,000 books was not difficult at all."
A Gijang-gun official said, "We hope that more children will participate in the future to gain broader reading experiences and a sense of accomplishment."
"One Thousand Picture Books" is a children's reading project conducted by the Gijang-gun library for children aged 5 to second grade in elementary school. Those who read all 1,000 picture books and complete the stamp book receive a certificate and a medal. The project is operated at Jeonggwan Library, Jeonggwan Children's Library, and Naerisaera Library, with 387 students currently participating.
