Gwangsan District in Gwangju has set up a space to commemorate the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster that occurred at Muan International Airport in Jeonnam. In addition, the district has canceled or minimized scheduled events in accordance with the national mourning period.
On the 31st, Gwangsan District announced that it would observe a national mourning period until the 4th of next month.
A memorial altar has been set up in the lobby on the first floor of the district office, and flags are being flown at half-mast along with condolence banners at the district and neighborhood offices. The space is open to all, including citizens and visitors to the district office, so that anyone can pay tribute to the victims and express their condolences.

Park Byunggu, the head of the district office, who urged prompt response such as one-on-one matching with bereaved families by neighborhood, said, "I am devastated that so many people lost their lives in this tragic accident," and added, "We express our deepest condolences to the victims and will actively support the recovery efforts."
