The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will notify residents by mail starting January 1 next year when their resident registration cards, recovered due to loss or other reasons, have been destroyed.
On the 31st, Suwon City announced that it will operate the nation’s first "Recovered Resident Registration Card Destruction Notification Service" to guarantee the right to know about recovered resident registration cards and to alleviate the concerns of those who lost their cards regarding personal information leakage.

A Suwon city official stated, "We hope that citizens who have lost their resident registration cards will receive the destruction notification and feel some relief from anxiety related to personal information leakage," adding, "We plan to propose this service to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety so that it can be implemented nationwide."
