This is the level of domestic weekend golfers. Golf platform company SmartScore has released the 2024 round score data registered by its members. The data was compiled from 10 million records sent by about 3.9 million members from January 1 to November 30 this year. To increase data reliability, scores entered directly by members were excluded from the statistics.
The average score of golfers who registered 18-hole rounds on the application this year was 92.3 strokes. Men recorded an average of 91.4 strokes, while women recorded 93.8 strokes. The region with the lowest average golf score nationwide was Jeolla Province, according to the results. SmartScore stated, "Jeolla Province ranked first nationwide with an average score of 90.9 strokes by golfers’ residential area." Gyeongsang Province was second (91.7 strokes), and Chungcheong Province was third (91.8 strokes). Seoul recorded 92.5 strokes, and Gyeonggi Province was similar at 92.4 strokes.
By age group, those in their 70s scored 87 strokes, those in their 60s scored 87.9 strokes, and those in their 50s scored 90.5 strokes. The average score decreased as the age group increased. SmartScore explained, "This proves the correlation between golfing experience and skill." By season, spring and autumn averaged 92.7 strokes, winter 92.8 strokes, and summer had the lowest average at 91.3 strokes.
The golf courses where members entered the most scores by region were InSeoul27, Club72, Alps Daeyoung, Tejeve, Happiness, Aramir, and Everlis. Among these, the golf course with the lowest average score was Happiness, which recorded 90.1 strokes and has a SmartScore course difficulty rating of 2.8 out of 10.

SmartScore explained, "One golfer can send multiple round records, and some golfers who record poor scores may not enter their records at all," adding, "It is difficult to view this as an average data set of 3.9 million people."
