Five Children Under 10 on Jeju Air Passenger Plane
Wreckage of the aircraft involved in the accident lies on the runway of Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do 29 days after a Jeju Air passenger plane carrying 181 passengers collided with the outer wall of the runway during landing, causing a fire that resulted in the deaths of most passengers.
View original imageOn the 29th, the Jeju Air passenger plane that had an accident while landing at Muan International Airport was reported to have been carrying passengers of various age groups who had traveled abroad with their families to celebrate the year-end.
According to authorities, the accident aircraft had a total of 181 people on board, including 175 passengers and 6 crew members. Among the 175 passengers, 82 were male and 93 were female.
The youngest passenger was a 3-year-old boy born in 2021, and the oldest was a 78-year-old man born in 1946. Among the passengers, two were Thai nationals, a woman in her 20s and a woman in her 40s.
By age group, those in their 50s were the largest group with 40 people, followed by those in their 60s (39), 40s (32), 70s (24), 30s (16), 20s (10), teens (9), and under 10 years old (5).

At around 9:03 a.m. that day, the accident occurred while the aircraft was attempting to land on the runway at Muan Airport, and as of 5:11 p.m., 167 people had died. Two were rescued. Fire authorities are conducting search operations for survivors and recovery of the deceased.
