Gyeonggi-do to Invest 311.65 Billion KRW in Snow Damage Recovery in November
Gyeonggi Province secured 131.9 billion KRW in support funds for damage recovery caused by the heavy snowfall last November.
On the 20th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it received a heavy snow damage recovery plan containing this information from the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, and on the 29th, it notified 27 affected cities and counties (excluding Paju, Yangju, Dongducheon, and Yeoncheon).
Of the 131.9 billion KRW in damage recovery support funds confirmed by the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, 98.8 billion KRW is from the national government, 10.6 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 22.5 billion KRW from city and county governments. The recovery amounts by city and county are Anseong 35.6 billion KRW, Pyeongtaek 24.9 billion KRW, Hwaseong 24.6 billion KRW, Yongin 15.1 billion KRW, Icheon 12.4 billion KRW, Yeoju 5.9 billion KRW, among others.
These support funds are allocated as 30.5 billion KRW for public facility damage recovery such as waste disposal and securing deicing agents, 32.7 billion KRW for vinyl greenhouses, and 29.1 billion KRW for livestock facility equipment.
Earlier, on the 6th, Gyeonggi Province announced a financial support plan totaling 170.75 billion KRW, including the Disaster Management Fund (10.35 billion KRW), Disaster Relief Fund (71.8 billion KRW), contingency funds (5 billion KRW), Special Adjustment Grants (1.6 billion KRW), Special Disaster Management Grants (2 billion KRW), and loans for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners (80 billion KRW), to swiftly address the heavy snowfall damage.
Subsequently, on the 18th, Gyeonggi Province announced a plan to inject 9 billion KRW from the provincial Disaster Management Fund to support nine cities and counties?Gwangju, Yangpyeong, Ansan, Uiwang, Osan, Siheung, Gunpo, Gwangmyeong, and Anyang?that were severely affected by the heavy snow but excluded from the special disaster area declaration.
Accordingly, when adding the 179.75 billion KRW announced by Gyeonggi Province and the 131.9 billion KRW confirmed by the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, the total support amount reaches 311.65 billion KRW.
