On the 27th, Speaker of the National Assembly Woo Won-sik decided to apply the impeachment resolution quorum standard for the Prime Minister to the impeachment motion against Acting President and Prime Minister Han Deok-su. As a result, the impeachment motion against Acting President Han can be passed with opposition party seats alone.

View original imageBefore the vote on the impeachment motion against Acting President Han at the plenary session that day, Speaker Woo stated, "This agenda will be voted on by secret ballot according to Article 30, Paragraph 2 of the National Assembly Act," and added, "This agenda is an impeachment motion against Prime Minister Han Deok-su, and according to Article 65, Paragraph 2 of the Constitution, it will be resolved by the majority of the total members of the National Assembly."
Regarding the impeachment motion against Acting President Han, Speaker Woo applied the impeachment standards for Cabinet members below the Prime Minister, which require at least one-third of the total members to propose and a majority of the total members to approve, rather than the presidential impeachment standards that require a proposal by a majority of the total members and approval by two-thirds of the total members of the National Assembly.
