Mapo-gu to Host Various Performances and Attractions on December 31 at Red Road R4
Safety Measures Implemented Including Car-Free Streets and Deployment of Safety Personnel to Prevent Accidents
Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) will hold the "2025 Red Road Countdown Event" on Red Road R4 from 9 PM on December 31, 2024, until 12:30 AM the next day, under the theme "Together on the Red Road, Toward a Hopeful New Year."
Planned to welcome the upcoming Year of the Blue Snake (Eulsa Year), this countdown event is expected to be a meaningful occasion that beautifully decorates the last night of 2024 and signals the start of a new year to residents and tourists alike.
The pre-event performances starting at 9 PM will feature artists from various genres, including One Plus One, Jeon Pa-sang-sa, Yang Ji-won, and Team Funist, lighting up the stage with diverse performances.
In particular, Team Funist, the winner of the Grand Prize at the "Red Road Busker Festival 2024," is set to deliver a high-quality performance.
The main event will begin at 11 PM, hosted by broadcaster Jo Young-gu, followed by a passionate performance by singer Yang Ji-won, known from Mister Trot, to elevate the festival's excitement.
The highlight of welcoming the new year is the countdown starting at 11:45 PM.
The countdown, joined by Mayor Park Gang-su, guests, and tourists, will mark the start of the new year with a traditional Korean drum (daebuk) performance precisely at midnight.
Throughout the venue, wish trees and photo zones will be set up, allowing visitors to leave special memories by sharing their hopes and resolutions for the new year.

View original imageAccording to Seoul's real-time urban data, a large crowd is expected to gather at Red Road on the night of the 31st.
In response, Mapo-gu plans to temporarily convert sections R5 and R6 of Red Road into a "car-free zone" to prevent safety accidents and will continue the crowd safety management measures implemented since the 24th until the 31st to ensure maximum safety.
