After on-site evaluations, 9 excellent policies and cases were selected and awarded.
Under the slogan of ‘Public institutions that create results that residents empathize with and feel,’ ‘Public institutions that fulfill their public roles and responsibilities,’ and ‘Public institutions where family-friendly, mutual respect, and provincial government values are shared,’ Gyeonggi Province divided the awards into three categories: ▲Resident Service Innovation ▲Creation of Social Value ▲Practice of Responsible Management, selecting and awarding 9 cases in total.
The Gyeonggi-type integrated transportation platform MaaS ‘Ddokta’ was built by Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation based on Gyeonggi Province’s mid- to long-term smart transportation service business strategy. Through the ‘Ddokta’ app, users can call and pay for four modes of transport (Ddokbus, kickboards, shared bicycles, taxis), and also check public transportation (bus, subway) information. Based on this convenience, the number of downloads of the Ddokta app reached 909,000 as of December 2024, approaching 1 million downloads.
Among the modes linked to the Ddokta app, shared PM contributed to creating a safe usage environment through a safety management council with related organizations, and minimized the occurrence rate of safety accidents through mandatory license certification within the Ddokta app and promotion of Ddokta safety rules. Shared bicycles promote safe use by offering an immediate 1,000 KRW discount for youths aged 13 to 23.
In particular, since the 19th, the service has strengthened public-led taxi brokerage by linking about 30,000 taxis across all areas of Gyeonggi Province. There is no call fee 24 hours a day, and efforts are being made to coexist with existing transportation companies. Ddokta supports direct payment, allowing anyone to conveniently use taxis without cancellation fees.
Since July 2023, a pilot telephone call service has been launched in rural eup and myeon areas, allowing vehicle calls not only through the app but also by connecting to call center operators. The usage of the existing app call service has increased 33 times as of July 2024 compared to its initial introduction. Currently, the service operates in 12 out of 16 cities and counties in the province, with plans to expand to all areas by 2025.
Regarding this award, Min Kyung-sun, President of Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, said, “I feel good as it feels like recognition for the hard work of our employees throughout the year,” and added, “Following the activation of existing linked modes such as Ddokbus, shared PM and bicycles, and taxis, and the linkage of bus and subway information, we will continue to strive to minimize inconvenience and provide safer and more convenient transportation services by linking various modes such as car sharing and UAM.”
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi-type MaaS platform ‘Ddokta’ was selected as an excellent case of proactive administration by public institutions and won the Excellence Award at the ‘2024 Gyeonggi Province Proactive Administration Excellent Case Competition’ hosted by Gyeonggi Province last August.
