Ishiba, Japanese Prime Minister, "Wants to Meet President-elect Trump... Timing Undecided"
Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba expressed his hope to meet with President-elect Donald Trump, who will take office on the 20th of next month, as soon as possible.
On the 24th, Prime Minister Ishiba said at a press conference, "I want to hold talks soon and elevate the Japan-US alliance to an even higher level."
However, he added, "No specific date has been arranged yet," and said, "We will seek an appropriate time."
Regarding other diplomatic activities with world leaders, Prime Minister Ishiba explained, "In a recent phone call with Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, we confirmed maintaining Korea-Japan and Korea-US-Japan cooperation and preparing for the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year."
This press conference was held to evaluate the achievements following the end of the temporary session of the National Assembly on the day and to explain the future direction of government administration.
