Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 24th that it received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the 14th Children’s Safety Awards hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 23rd, in recognition of its outstanding efforts in promoting children’s safety policies.

The Children’s Safety Awards are given annually to recognize excellent children’s safety initiatives carried out by local governments to enhance children’s safety and promote related policies.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety accepted applications for ‘Outstanding Cases of Children’s Safety Accident Prevention Activities’ from local governments nationwide from July 26 to October 29. After document evaluation, on-site inspections, online public voting, and presentation reviews, outstanding local governments were selected.

Goyang City’s outstanding children’s safety policy projects include ▶ Diagnosis of disaster and crisis awareness in the children’s sector ▶ Free safety education support for workers at children’s facilities ▶ Operation of a children’s safety and security experience center ▶ Formation of the Dream Tree Civil Defense Team.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said, “Children are our future, and their safety is our top priority,” adding, “We will do our best to create an environment where children can grow up safely and nurture their dreams.”
