Pocheon Suji Co., Ltd. is a company that manufactures styrofoam insulation materials used in buildings. Established in 1997, it received the Small and Medium Business Management Award in 2015. In 2018, it filed a patent related to molding equipment and is recognized as an excellent company holding various certifications such as the National Standard (KS) certification, Environmental Label certification, and Eco-friendly Building Material (HB) certification.
Yu Sam-seok, CEO of Pocheon Suji Co., Ltd., expressed concerns, saying, “Due to strengthened regulations such as the Serious Accident Punishment Act, consumption of combustible styrofoam insulation materials has decreased, causing difficulties.” He also raised major issues including odor problems from nearby business sites, expansion of city gas (LNG) supply, and the priority use of products produced in Pocheon.
Jeon Eun-woo, Director of the Economic and Environmental Bureau, said, “We are currently promoting the attraction of a fuel cell power plant, and once the power plant is established, the supply of city gas will naturally expand. For this, cooperation from companies and residents in site discovery is necessary.”
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “I deeply empathize with the inconveniences experienced by local residents and companies due to odor problems. We are currently working smoothly to resolve the issue,” and added, “We are actively promoting the priority purchase of locally produced products from the construction design stage.”
