Emerging as a Hub for Nurturing Talent in AI, Convergence, and SW Fields in the 4th Industrial Era
Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 24th that it has confirmed the attraction of the Polytech Dongducheon Training Center (a public vocational training facility) after receiving approval for its establishment from the Ministry of Employment and Labor earlier this month.
Since 2022, the city has actively promoted this project in collaboration with Polytech University to cultivate specialized personnel tailored to the demands of local industries in fields such as AI (artificial intelligence), convergence technology, and software (SW).
Additionally, through securing economic feasibility via a feasibility study and submitting a proposal to the Minister of Employment and Labor, the city made vigorous efforts to successfully attract the training center.
In the future, the Polytech Dongducheon Training Center plans to graduate approximately 1,500 trainees annually in high-tech fields, specialized courses for the middle-aged, women's reemployment programs, and training for small-scale workplaces.
Mayor Park Hyung-deok of Dongducheon stated, “By attracting the Polytech Dongducheon Training Center, we will nurture customized personnel required by local industries in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution and create an opportunity to transform Dongducheon into a young and vibrant future-oriented city.”
Meanwhile, Polytech University plans to begin design and construction for the new training center starting in 2025 and aims to complete the project by 2027.
