The refurbishment targeted 29 locations, including the Chaekhyanggi Intersection, prioritizing bollards that urgently needed repair due to outer surface peeling exposing the steel frame, although their bases and posts remained in good condition.
The refurbishment involved replacing only the urethane outer surface rather than installing new bollards. The replacement work was carried out by road maintenance personnel, saving a budget of 27 million KRW including material and labor costs. The price of a bollard outer surface is about 70,000 KRW each, which is more than 50% cheaper than the cost of new installation.
