Daejeon City to Provide 200,000 Won Monthly Honor Allowance for Veterans Starting Next Year
Monthly Allowance Increased from 150,000 Won to 200,000 Won for Honor Enhancement and Welfare Improvement
Daejeon City announced that starting next year, the monthly honorarium for veterans will be increased by 50,000 won, from 150,000 won to 200,000 won.
In June, the city revised the 'Daejeon Veterans Support Ordinance' to provide a total of 200,000 won per month to 4,950 veterans of the Korean War and Vietnam War residing in Daejeon, with the city government contributing 120,000 won and the local districts contributing 80,000 won.
Reflecting the increase in the 2025 allowance, the city plans to allocate a budget of 7.128 billion won for the veterans' honorarium and provide a total of 13.572 billion won for veterans' benefits, including the honorarium, spouse allowance, and merit allowance.
Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, said, "We will continue to expand welfare services and support veterans' organizations next year to strengthen respect for veterans who have contributed and dedicated themselves to the nation and to promote a culture of honoring veterans."
