CIP Installs 'Jeonnam Offshore Wind 1' Turbine on Jaeundo, Shinan
Provides Energy for 60,000 Households When Fully Operational
Contributes to 14.3GW Supply Target by 2030
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a global green energy investment and development company, announced on the 24th that it successfully completed the installation of turbines for the 'Jeonnam Offshore Wind 1' project, which is being jointly developed with SK Innovation E&S, on the 18th.
Jeonnam Offshore Wind 1 is a 96MW offshore wind power complex located 9km northwest of Jaeundo, Shinan-gun. Construction began early last year, and turbine installation has been underway since September. After starting its first power generation last month and completing turbine installation this month, Jeonnam Offshore Wind 1 is scheduled to begin commercial operation in the first half of next year. Once fully operational, it is expected to provide clean energy to approximately 60,000 households.

It has been attracting attention as a representative example demonstrating the sustainable growth potential of Korea's offshore wind market by closely cooperating with domestic supply chain partners, promoting coexistence with local communities, utilizing local ports and facilities, and contributing to the revitalization of the regional economy.
Thomas Wibe Poulsen, CIP Partner and Head of CIP Asia-Pacific (APAC), said, "The successful installation of turbines for Jeonnam Offshore Wind 1 was made possible thanks to the dedicated efforts and support of all employees involved in the project, as well as the innovative technology and cooperation of excellent supply chain partners. This achievement marks an important first step in turning the potential and growth prospects of Korea's offshore wind industry into reality. CIP will continue to fully support Korea's goal of deploying 14.3GW of offshore wind power by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050."
Korea, one of the major offshore wind power markets in the Asia-Pacific region, possesses significant potential for the offshore wind industry. The government has set a goal of deploying 14.3GW of offshore wind power by 2030. In addition, large-scale renewable energy projects are being further supplied to achieve the 2050 carbon neutrality target.
CIP, which entered the Korean market in 2018, has been leading continuous investment in large-scale offshore wind project development and the introduction of innovative technologies. In addition to the Jeonnam Offshore Wind project, CIP is also promoting offshore wind projects in Ulsan and Shinan, Jeonnam.
